A few years back we stumbled upon the La Parada in Camps Bay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though we were there for lunch, the Spanish interior was amazing and the vibe incredible. Sometime after that we were in Cape Town again and ended up at the Constantia Nek branch. I will never forget; it was a cold, wet winter’s day and there was a fire burning in the hearth. You could easily spend the whole day snuggling up there drinking red wine. On the same trip, we ventured into the V&A Waterfront restaurant. Once again, the décor had us enthralled, not to mention the Tapas. This evening we are making a return to the eatery at Waterfall Corner.

Amanda has recently returned from a trip to France, and I had a busy time at home while she was away. So, we really could not wait for Thursday and had date night on Tuesday. Once everyone at home was taken care of, we snuck out and made our way to the bar de tapas.
The host welcomes us at the door and shows us our table. The place is surprisingly busy for a weeknight. The waiter comes to take our drinks order and we select the Spier Merlot. We sit sipping wine and talking for more than an hour before we realize that we should order something to eat.

For someone who is nightshade sensitive and following a banting lifestyle the options are limited. I decide on the 300g Rib Eye Steak, flame grilled with portobello mushrooms, gorgonzola, and sage cream. This specific cut of meat is especially tender and flavorsome. It is best enjoyed medium to rare. As you can guess I waive the fries. Amanda who has fewer restrictions than I do, but still follows a low-carb approach, goes for the Tuna Sashimi Nicoise Salad. Our meals are both delicious.

When our waiter comes to clear the plates, we order our now traditional decaf americanos with pouring cream. Muchas gracias La Parada, nos vemos pronto!
