When Amy and Andre, the owners of Salsa and Lupa Midstream, invited us to their new store opening in Waterfall we felt honored and promptly accepted. After all, we only live once.
At the new Lupa Osteria Waterfall Wilds, Aperol Spritz awaits us as we enter the door. A familiar ambience greets us as we are shown to our table. Our hosts welcome us, we exchange pleasantries and congratulate them on their new restaurant.
On the balcony outside the view is picturesque. In the foreground rolling grasslands. The Jukskei river and Waterfall Residential Estate in the back. The weather is building up and the sky is a beautiful indigo color. After a hot day, the cool air is refreshing.
We move back inside and inspect the décor and layout. It is a lot like the Lupa we know. We are told that this one is larger and that there will be a parking lot for residents’ golf carts nearby. There are also booth tables which look very comfy.
We take our places and order drinks from our friendly waiter Nellie. A glass of Prosecco for Amanda and for me the Fairview La Capra Merlot. When the beverages arrive, we order something to eat. The Oven-baked Snails with Gorgonzola and a Starter platter to share. The food, company, and atmosphere is incredible. At some point, Nellie comes to enquire about the mains. We inform her that the starters were filling. And instead, we order our usual desserts.
It is time to bid farewell and return home. We say our goodbyes, and remark on what a success the evening has been. Upon returning home we ask the uber driver to drop us at the security gate about 800m from our house. An after-dinner walk is apparently very beneficial for your health. Also, Amanda needs to make up her step count for the day.
