PLTFRM is situated at Wolwespruit, the popular mountain bike and trail run park. While set in natural surroundings, it has an industrial look and feel incorporating lots of glass, steel, wood, and brick.

As we arrive, we are greeted by a friendly and excited Weimaraner. He belongs to one of the other patrons. The restaurant is pet-friendly on a leash and even has a menu for four-legged friends.
Being a cold Winter evening, the warm fireplace beckons us closer. The wine list contains a selection of local and international wines. I decide upon the L’Avenir Merlot which is a medium-bodied wine with silky tannins. It has attractive notes of berries and hints of cinnamon spice and cedar wood.
Few places offer a cheese board so when we find one on the menu, we immediately order it. It is served with preserves, cold meats, fresh fruit, and sourdough bread. How can you go wrong with a fireplace, cheese board, and Merlot? The food, drink, and atmosphere are quite incredible.

The menu has a large variety of traditional and foreign dishes. It is inspired by the owner’s travels and collaborations. Amanda decides on the PLTFRM salad which has the normal ingredients, tomato, cucumber, red onion, feta, olives, and salad vinaigrette but with Asian tangy prawns and avocado. Being a hungry carnivore, I am tempted by the Picanha, also known as a rump cap. It is a 300g cut with a beautiful rind of fat all around producing a wonderful flavour.

After dinner, the owner takes us for a walkabout and shows us the other facilities onsite. Boma is an outdoor restaurant with firepits, creating bush vibes and an amazing experience.
For dessert, we settle back down at the fireplace and enjoy our coffees with pouring cream. Reluctant to leave the warm and comfy interior we brave the cold and head for home. Baie dankie, goeienag en sien julle weer binnekort.
