Tonight, for date night we are attending a dinner theatre experience at Eclipse Restaurant. Located at Hotel Sky in the heart of Sandton this is an affair not to be missed. From the moment that you walk through the front door all your senses are tantalized. The décor is chic and over the top, with leopard print and toucans, bright vivid colours, and bling. The mood is stylish, yet playful.

After taking pics in the reception, we make our way to the hotel pool area where we enjoy some cocktails on tap. Before long we proceed upstairs to the restaurant where we take more photos out on the terrace. The view is breathtaking and we even manage to catch the sunset.

Our waiter Gift comes to take our food and drink orders before the show begins. From the wine list, we select a bottle of Durbanville Hills merlot. And for starters the Mediterranean beef phyllo and the scallops with spicy sardines.

The performance begins. Cherry Dance led by Mandy Mc Farlane has the entire audience clapping and singing along to 80’s music. An excellently choreographed story with aerial acrobatics pausing only for the next course to be served. Everyone is thoroughly entertained.

There is a brief interval for us to enjoy our mains. I have the rack of lamb and Amanda the duo of beef and chicken. The food is delicious, the ingredients are fresh and perfectly prepared. We savour every bite. This being a three-course dinner and not to be wasteful we break with tradition and share the baked baklava cheesecake and chocolate dome. Then, of course, we end it with our usual coffees.

A definite recommendation for an evening out. Thank you, Eclipse Restaurant and Hotel Sky, next time we are sleeping over.
