On our recent trip to the “Mother City” we were delighted to secure a lunch reservation at Beluga. They recently reopened their restaurant at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal after being in Green Point for 20 years. The new venue has incredible views of the harbour and makes for an authentic experience.
Our friendly host Narusha welcomes and ushers us to our table. Here our service ambassador Tony awaits with a glass of MCC for each. We sip our aperitifs and appreciate the impressive surroundings. This chic industrial setting boasts a whisky bar, wine-tasting section, sushi conveyer, and private dining area. On certain Thursday evenings there is even a DJ offering a chance for some dancing.
Tony returns with a bottle of San Pellegrino. He runs us through the specialities and makes a few recommendations. I enquire about the wine, and he shows me to the cellar where I browse and select my own bottle.

I opt for the Warwick Professor Black Sauvignon Blanc while Amanda is in the mood for a Margarita. To start off with we share the fresh Saldanha oysters and the house salad with added avocado.
The tables around us start filling up. Within a short space of time there is a lively din coming from the other patrons enjoying themselves.
For mains, I go for the baby kingklip and the missus the snow dragon rolls sushi. What a sumptuous spread in a splendid atmosphere.

We get to chatting with our waiter and soon realise that he speaks French. Amanda converses with him for a while before he enquires about our dessert order. As is our custom we order 2 americanos, although this time not decaf.
Thank you, Beluga. We look forward to returning soon.
