We have not been to the cinemas in a while and decided tonight to watch a film at the Irene Village Mall. I check which of their restaurants we have not been to yet and discover the new La Parada. I reserve a table for 2, just to be on the safe side.
We arrive early and are shown to the upstairs dining area. I really love the décor. It is a mix of retro Tropicana meets flamenco bar, somewhere in Toledo, Spain. There are hanging ceiling plants and lampshades. Large murals on the walls with botanical wallpaper. The perfect setting to lounge around.

Joseph brings us the wine list from which we select the Retief Reserve by Van Loveren Wines. It is a bold wine with notes of oak, dark cherry, and plum. The topic of our conversation this evening is finding a hobby or career that you can pursue into your old age. Something sustainable that will keep you young.

While engrossed in our discussion we explore the menu. Amanda orders the Ultimate Rainbow 8-piece Sushi, and I cannot help but go for the Rib Eye steak. The food is delicious, the Cape Blend is complementary, and the ambiance is exotic. We even find ourselves Shazaming the playlist. Alas, we cannot revel for too long; we have a movie to catch.

Our waiter brings us 2 decaf americanos for takeaway. On the way, we pick up a large popcorn and some water. Screening is the new Mission Impossible, Dead Reckoning. I will not give too many details lest I spoil it for some. But what I will say is, “It is an action-packed blockbuster that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time”. A definite must-watch.
What a great experience. Dinner and a show. A wonderful night out. Una vez más, gracias La Parada.
