For a while now we have been meaning to revisit Mythos restaurant. We always have a wonderful time there. After being in Greece last year we appreciate the authenticity and this enhances our experience. There is something inviting about the music, food, and culture. And when you go to the restaurant it embodies that. Our location of choice is Mythos Irene Village Mall.
This evening Amanda suggests a Bordeaux Blend, the Rupert & Rothschild Classique. We note oak, vanilla, and black fruit while tasting. I double-check the Vivino app to make sure that we are not deceiving ourselves. And we are unerring.

It has been a busy week as usual. The upcoming weekend though is going to be a whirlwind. Friday night entertaining friends at home. Saturday night a reservation at Grande Provence in Franschhoek (I will definitely write about that one). Sunday Paarl and Monday West Coast National Park. Looking forward to the long weekend getaway.
Normally when we are at Mythos we order the Veg Meze platter. But I am attempting a low-carb eating plan and that would mean an awful waste of pita bread. Another favourite thing to do is order many smaller dishes and tapas. So that is what we do. Halloumi, Dolmades, and Black Mushroom starters. Two Lamb Souvlakia, and a Village Greek Salad.

You are probably thinking, “This guy knows nothing about pairing; a light, crisp white wine would be a better choice”. But we were in the mood for a red blend and it does complement the meal.
Our waiter clears the table and asks if we would like to order dessert. Customarily, I would order another glass of red for myself and a cappuccino for ma femme. This time however we break with tradition. We order two decaf filter coffees with pouring cream. I must admit this is a new favourite of mine.
