Tonight is one of those nights where we have a slight clash of plans. Amanda suggests that we do date night the evening before. But I think we can make it if we reserve for 8 o’clock close by. I call Turn ‘n Tender and Bret happily confirms a table for 2 persons inside.
Although we arrive a few minutes late, the corner booth is still waiting for us. This is a typical Steakhouse Diner. With a brick interior and framed old black and white photographs on the wall. It reminds me of a grill I once went to in Las Vegas many years ago. That was where I first learned about Ribeye Steak on the bone.

We snuggle up in the corner on the red leather-covered benches. The waitress comes over to introduce herself and presents us with the wine list. I browse through and realise the Turn & Tender Merlot is bottled at Fairview. I remember Lupa Osteria also had their house wine bottled there. Famous Brands must have done a deal with the winemakers. I guess a bottle of that and 2 glasses. Don’t forget the large sparkling water. Time to sit back and relax. The week is almost done, although it will be a busy weekend.

Our waitress makes a few appearances to check in on us. We realise we should order sooner rather than later. It is difficult for me not to choose the steak. So I go for the 300g Sirloin. Medium to rare with a blue cheese sauce. And vegetables instead of a starch. Amanda has the Steak and Rocket Salad.

The food is delicious and between the two of us, we lick our platters clean. All the while we are completely engrossed in conversation. Now, we move on to the after-dinner drinks. For me the usual digestif and for Amanda, the decaf filter coffee with pouring cream.
Eventually, all the tables have been vacated and the staff is busy tidying up. We pick up the check and bid our goodnights.
