This evening we have a reservation at Capito restaurant in Pretoria. We cancel and opt for something a little closer to home. Our normal means of transport is in for a service and must stay overnight. We are not comfortable with using our backup to go all the way to Hazelwood. This is the 2nd time this month that we cancel with Capito. The previous time we got caught up at an event and could not get away. Hopefully, we get to go there within the next few weeks.
We cannot decide between Turn ‘n Tender or the Godfather and end up going for the latter.
The Godfather restaurant is a traditional steakhouse. It has been around for the last 27 years. Their menu also includes vegetarian options as well as burgers and seafood. On the topic of seafood, they have the best Baby Kingklip that I have ever tasted. So much so that I do not try Kingklip anywhere else. That also means that I never have the steak at the Godfather. The Kingklip is topped with shrimp, mushrooms, and a cheese sauce. If you take the promotion, you also get a carafe of Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir. Of course, you may try any wine from their extensive selection. Both Amanda and I go for the promotion which does not disappoint.
The place is abuzz, I have not seen it this busy. And it is a school night. I am surprised that they had a table for us. It is still early, and we would like to do a quieter after-dinner drink somewhere else. We get the bill, which in my opinion is rather fair considering we ordered fish. Where to now? We go for our other option of the evening, Turn ‘n Tender. Just drinks. A cocktail for Madame and a single glass of Merlot for moi. This place is also busy. By the time our drinks are done, it has calmed down. The kids should all be asleep by now. We realize that is not the case as we enter the front door.
