Bedfordview is quite the drive for us, but the restaurant we are going to is worth it. Wanting to have something to drink and not worry about driving we take an uber. The street in front of the center is so busy the driver has a hard time finding a spot to drop us off. What did we do before uber?
Yamitsuki is a sushi, teppanyaki, and dim sum bar. They are extremely popular and very well known for their Japanese cuisine. Tonight, we are seated in the teppanyaki area. They also have a sushi bar. Teppan translates to iron plate and yaki to grilled. Apparently not to be confused with Hibachi. How could I? The chef wants to impress us with his talents and gives us an early fire demonstration serving us complimentary dumplings.
We are a little early and the place is still quiet. We order a bottle of Pongracz Brut and the fire rock shrimp roll as a starter. While we wait, we use the opportunity to take all the photos, videos, and boomerangs that we need. The bubbly and flaming sushi arrives. The combination is superb. We are having a really great time.
More and more people are arriving, and the iron grills are flaming. We decide to order our mains. I go for the ribeye with bok choy and Amanda chooses the salmon with bok choy. Another show and the bowls are presented to us. Chopsticks naturally and before you can say stir fry our food is done. All the while we are chatting away sipping MCC.
The night drifts by and we realize we should start considering our dessert possibilities. Amanda naturally goes with the decaf cappuccino, but this time I decide to have the Kahlua Don Pedro. I have not done that for a while, and I forget that one could get brain freeze. The ride back is long, and we ruminate about the evening’s happenings. At the point where we start to doze, we reach our destination. Arigatō and Sayōnara.
