I have always wanted a pair of classic Rayban aviators. Most stores seem to only stock the size 58, which without going into technical details is extra-large. My head, for no obvious good reason, is even larger, so I need a 62. Woolies has launched a Sunglass Hut in-store not far from the actual Sunglass Hut store. The difference is the staff. I don’t think the normal store clerk even realized we were in the store. The assistant in the Woolies store was friendly, competent, and extremely helpful. The Sunglass Hut in Woolies has a special running where if you buy 2 pairs of sunglasses, you get a 40% discount on the cheapest pair, which is not cheap, but still a good deal. We don’t know if the stand-alone store has the same special running or not.
After the sunglass expedition, we go to Fire Room for dinner. Fire Room was first Wasabi. I have been to Wasabi before with Amanda, more than once, and it was a great experience. As the name would suggest there is sushi involved. I cannot remember the exact aesthetics of the previous store but this one seems a lot larger on the inside. No, I did not make a reservation, so for our penance, we have to sit at the bar first. While there we order a glass of Prosecco each. Nectar! It does not take very long et voilà, our table is ready. Beautiful wingback chairs making you feel like you are in a private booth. We settle in and sip our drinks. We make some calculations about how much that 40% discount is.
The waiter returns to ask what we would like to order. We look at each other, we are enjoying the Prosecco. We order a bottle and ask if they have fresh oysters. Alas, we are informed by the waiter that she was told not to serve the oysters. In that case, we will not insist. We order 2 flaming sushi, the Famous Fire Roll and the Halloumi crunch. The conversation returns to the sunglass discount. Our spread arrives. The waiter lights the sauce and pours it over the sushi, what a show. I am not sure who invented flaming sushi and whether it was done by accident or on purpose, but I am thankful for the discovery.
Before you can say chopsticks, the dishes are empty. To be honest I cannot remember if the waiter brought the dessert menu but once again the missus orders a coffee and I enjoy the last bit of Prosecco. Content with the idea that we have had a successful evening we return to our humble abode to eagerly await the next date night.
