Without fail Lupa has managed to treat us to a splendid evening once again. Their cosy, yet buzzing, atmosphere and hearty food, along with good wine.
We shared the oven-baked snails and gorgonzola, melanzane al parmigiano and the T-bone. We sip the wine trying to make it last the whole evening and talk about family, home life and travel. I say buzzing atmosphere because it is a rather busy place but does not give the feeling of commotion. The brick interior and warm colours are perfect for winter evenings. You get that heartfelt feeling like you are sitting close to a fireplace.
We love sharing food and prefer smaller tapa-like dishes over a one plate each meal. The snails and the melanzane, although starters are our clear favourites. At the risk of ordering the same food every time we throw in something from the blackboard specials. This time we went for the 600g T-bone which is a preferred cut of mine. The bone gives a lot of flavours that a normal say fillet would not have. I slice this fillet off the bone and offer it to Amanda. This ensures she has the tastiest and most tender piece. Our choice of wine is a blend of the average-priced red which never disappoints. And to stay hydrated a bottle of sparkling water. Indeed we do not order off the dessert menu.
The only indulgence we do allow ourselves after a delicious meal like this is a coffee and a last glass of wine. When we do emerge from our dreamy state we realise that we are almost the last patrons left in the restaurant. After the formalities of paying the bill, we thank our hosts and saunter off into the evening.
